Working with Emotions: A Practical Approach for Actors, Acting Teachers, Coaches, and Directors

Dalhousie Arts Centre and the Fountain School of Performing Arts, Dalhousie University.

Josephine Christensen

The Working with Emotions workshop offers a trauma-informed, somatic, and skill-based approach to emotional work that teaches participants how to enter, exit, and regulate emotional states with precision, control, and agency. Working from a physiological basis, participants learn how to support the emotional demands of performance, with technical skills, that improve emotional range, repeatability, the flow of impulses and moment-to-moment connection with scene partners. For those who direct this work aligns with contemporary concerns for safety, agency and consent-based workplace practices. This is a five-day workshop running from 10.00 am-5.00 pm, Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th of April.

Special Offer. For members of Theatre Nova Scotia who sign up before the 4th of April 2026, we offer a discounted rate of $450.00.
