Nova Scotia's KAZAN CO-OP has produced award-winning theatre in Halifax and Toronto. Founded in 2011, KAZAN has been nominated for 26 Robert Merritt Awards, winning five. The company is dedicated to producing compelling, contemporary theatre that oftern relates to the challenges of mid-life and its enduring possibility for change. KAZAN's founder and artistic director Kathryn MacLellan has been an active member of the local and national theatre community for over 35 years, and was the recipient of the 2015 Mayor's Award for Achievement in Theatre. Her partner is her sister, Janet MacLellan, an award-winning costume and set designer.
