Job Title: Administrative Archivist
Job Type: Part-Time, 8-week Contract (Canada Summer Jobs position)
Location: TNS office located in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, NS
Hours: Approximately 25 hrs per week
Salary: $4,800 total (minus tax and employment fees) for the 8 week contract
Term: June 15th – August 7th, 2026

About Theatre Nova Scotia
Theatre Nova Scotia is a provincial arts service organization that provides a range of services to artists working in theatre at all levels across the province. From individuals to organizations in the professional and community theatre realms.
Our big event-based programs annually are The Robert Merritt awards for professional theatre in March, and the Nova Scotia High School DramaFest, in May. We also facilitate the PERFORM! Program which sends professional artists into schools year-round. We act as a central hub for the theatre community to engage, we strive to be a champion for advocacy surrounding the arts and theatre in our province, and we provide a host of other services to our members such as a Script Library, a Theatre Partnership Program, and monthly newsletters and Arts listings.
About the Position
The Administrative Archivist will join the TNS team for the summer to work alongside core TNS staff (the Executive Director and Memberships & Administration Manager) to lead some major archiving and organizing projects around Theatre Nova Scotia and the Cultural Federations of NS.
This position is a great opportunity for an artist eager to gain skills in Arts Administration or Digitizing/Organizing, and gain access to a central network for professional and community theatre artists, in a supportive and fun learning environment!
Position Responsibilities:
- Sort, Catalogue and Digitize the Theatre Nova Scotia Script Library
- Help envision and develop a new system for Script Library rentals
- Develop a marketing campaign with TNS Administration to promote the Library.
- Help preserve a digital record of theatre content in NS by contacting past and present TNS members. Collecting Show Posters, Show Programs, Cast & Team Lists, Production Photos
- Develop a system within the TNS Google Drive for storing and sorting this historical Member information
- Develop the process to continue saving these materials moving forward each year.
- Unpacking and organizing the Cultural Federation of NS’s Craft library collection, including basic cataloguing and creating an accessible system for staff and members.
- Unpacking, documenting, and cataloguing the Nova Scotia Designer Craft Council’s permanent collection.
- Other related cataloguing and research projects for Theatre Nova Scotia or the Cultural Federations of NS.

- Gmail
- Google Drive & Suite of tools (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Calendar)
- Canva (used for social media)
- Mailchimp (used for Newsletters)
- Website: A WordPress backend, with an Elementor page builder
We are looking for someone who:
- Has an interest in theatre, arts administration, or cultural work
- Is a personable community member
- Is organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Has a passion for working as part of a service organization or a charity
- Is a proactive and independent worker
- Is comfortable with digital tools (or willing to learn)
