Noah spoke often to their garden, did they not expect their garden to respond?

The in-between is a 60 minute touching play that tackles the current loneliness epidemic that young people are facing, and emphasizes the importance of community in creating a hopeful future. The in-between follows a young trans university dropout, Noah, who has moved back in with their parents as they deal with the aftermath of a suicide attempt. While recovering, Noah turns their focus to bringing their parent’s garden back to life, and talks to the plants about their mental health struggles and feelings of isolation. Unbeknownst to them, there is a snail hiding in their garden, listening and feeling drawn to their rambling words. Snail was born in the dumpster behind a library and learned English through reading the torn pages of Virginia Woolf’s Orlando. The two form an unlikely kinship and learn the joys of connection.
