Gorsebrook Junior High School is looking for a director/producer to work with their students to produce a musical.
Gorsebrook Junior High is looking for a new director for their musical for the upcoming year! The show typically takes place in February, with auditions in September, and practices starting shortly thereafter. Practices occur at Gorsebrook Junior High, with 2 occuring before school (1 hour) and 1 after school (1.5 hrs), weekly. The weekend
before the show is reserved for “tech weekend” where lighting and sound cues and full dress rehearsals take place. The show is produced by parent volunteers who are there to support you with any production needs. The experience includes the opportunity to work with and supervise a student from the Dalhousie School of Performing Arts which has proven to be a rewarding experience for the directors, Dal students and Gorsebrook
students alike.
Do you have experience with directing and an interest in supporting a group of eager and talented young performers to bring a fun and exciting musical to life? Confirmation of a show and signing of a contract must be done May of 2026 – so if you are interested, please email gjhmusicalprogram@gmail.com and MMacPhee@hrce.ca for more information.
Auditions would be in Sept 2026 with regular weekly practices, and the final production date would be for one day, two nights in Feb 2027.
Please send resume/e-mail to Mark MacPhee at mmacphee@hrce.ca
Stipend to be negotiated. Typically in the area of $4,000 if one person and $2,000 each if two people.
Deadline: May 30th, 2026
